Your child is not automatically given a local secondary school place for Year Seven if you do not apply for one.
At the beginning of September Year Six parents are invited to a meeting explaining how to apply for a secondary school place. The transfer process will be outlined and advice provided on how to choose a school. You will also be given a copy of the Admissions Booklet (below), which is an important source of information and includes secondary school open days.
Mrs Stonebridge is available throughout the year to meet with parents for advice or if help is needed with the application forms.
There is one Common Application Form for all schools (below) which must be completed and returned by the closing date, 21st October 2011.
In addition to the Common Application Form some schools require you to fill in a supplementary form. This is returned directly to the secondary school by their deadline date.
On 1st March you will be written to with the names of the secondary schools that are offering your child a place. You have to complete a form to accept the place you want.
